Landing on the Moon - Happy Anniversary!

It's approaching the 40th anniversary for landing on the moon. The whole event is being commemorated at: http://www.wechoosethemoon.org/

If you go there, you can hear all the real-time audio that ocurred between CAPCOM and the Command Module. Quite amazing - a chance for me to experience what I missed if I were alive in the 50s.

Did you know they travells over 2,300 MPH?

Guayaki energy shots

This is totally going to sound like a commercial but:

I just got back from a 1,500 Mile family vacation trip to Colorado. 2 days each way (7 hours in the car each day). guayaki is one of my clients so they send me some interesting beverages and one of these were their energy shots.

These were PERFECT for the drive helping me stay focused, alert, and positive the whole way!

I have worked with them for over 6 years now - and I have switched from soda to their teas. Talk about great energy without the sugar.

Thanks Guayaki!

Back from Colorado!

What a GREAT trip! 1,500 miles and 8 days later - and so much has happened!

Let's start from the top:
2 days (and 2 Guayaki enrgy shots) to colorado (stayed in St. George)

Played in the hotel pool - messed up shoulder real bad

Had a mechanic in Salina tell me I had 'tire separation' - yeah he saw the CA license plate and thought he could trick me out of some cash. Man I was pissed!

Made it to the Ranch in Colorado - long drive but work it!

Fishing! Nathan Caught his first fish.

Riding 4 wheelers

Surprise Wedding shower for my cousin and his new wife.

Killer Collbran July 4th parade (kids got LOTS of Candy!)

Entered Jacob in the local July 4th Rodeo. He won 2nd place riding sheep and got a check for $55

Shot guns (My .306 rifle is dialed in!)

Watched fireworks

Watched more fireworks and helped kids light sparklers until about midnight.

HUGE Bonfires everynight

Big sunburn on my neck

Kids played with their cousins - athan lost his voice yelling so much.

Drove to Mesquite (1 Guayaki energy shot)

Stopped in Vegas Monday and took the boys to 5 different casinos (Excalibur, New York New York, MGM, Mandalay Bay, & Luxor). Saw the White tigers, statues, lights, mini-statue of liberty, & rode the tram.

Drove to Bakersfield and had dinner with MiMA (pronounced Mee Maw) - she is my mother-in-law - great dinner good stop

FINALLY GOT HOME!

Got our Tax return! Woo hoo!

And now I am still trying to switch gears and focus at work!

Cornbread - the next Aphrodisiac?!?

In the kithcen, my wife was making cornbread in these TINY muffin tins. I asked her what she was up to. Well she has an aviary fill of finches and three breeding pairs of parolets (really small parrots) - she said that since it is Springtime, feeding birds foods rich in protien encourage them to start nesting and breeding.

Anyway, since then, I know I will never think the same about cornbread.

Computer Convention in Las Vegas

So last week I was at a computer convention in Vegas. It was very valuable with all the people you can meet, but ONLY in Vegas can you go to a computer convention where free beer is handed out.

The best part is that I won $225 without even gambling - it was a drawing held by one of the vendors. When my name was drawn I had to answer some trivia questions and then go into one of those plixiglass cylinders where they use air to blow money all around and you have to catch it in mid-air. What a blast!

By the time I got home I was exhausted. I had to catch a 6AM flight back home and sleeping on a little plane doesn't work so well. It felt so good to be back in my own bed!

April Fool's Joke

So even though I love April Fool's - I always miss out on it. I am usually too busy. Today I got a good one in on my business partner. It went somethign like this:

My Text Message: "When is Kate's Due Date?"
His Reply: "May 5th"
My Text: "If it is May 5th, we have plenty of time. Let's can push out our busines trip to April 22nd, or May 2nd."
His Reply: "Our first daughter was two weeks early. I do not want to risk it."
My Text: "Dude, there is not that much risk. Besides she has given birth twice already. Its not like U R going to miss out on anything."

At this point I cannot describe the combined guilt and thrill I felt at that moment. It has been 10 minutes since I sent that lat message and I cannot image what Travis is thinking right now. I think his wife is going to kill me.

Just got a message back:
His reply: "Okay, I talked with Kate abou tit and she is cool."
-- Doh! he totally turned this around on me! But I called his bluff.
My Text: "Great. I just sent an email to our client. I'll let U know what they say."

Monkey Boyz!

My boyz love to climb trees. I joke with them and tell them if they spend too much time in the tree they will grow a tail.
Nathan actually walked over to some people at the park and told them to be careful when they climb trees!

Car Break-in - in SLO??!?

Today I parked on the top floor of the new parking garage in downtown SLO (the one on Palm st). I was just getting off the phone (with a detective in SB - talk about IRONY) and I left the stairs and turned to my car.

The driver's side door and trunk was open. My first thought was debating whether or not this was my car.

What was stolen? Not much - I have plenty of reason to count my blessings. Even though the trunk was opened -the tools and even a LAPTOP was left behind. Onside my car the charger to my cell phone, a Maglight, and some CDs were the victim. Not to mention my driver's side window is now out of its track since it was forced.

So I did call it in to place a police report. I guess life wasn't exciting enough!

Anyway, I thank God the car was not more damaged. I thank the Lord my client's laptop in the trunk was not stolen and I thank the Lord that this was all that happened and it was not a crime a violence.

Stay safe and lock your doors. Even in SLO Town.

"I found a snail!"

We are enjoying the weekend at my mother in law's house - the boyz are playing around as usual and I heard my youngest son say, "I found a snail! He is going to be my best friend."

Totally hilarious - something I never want to forget. 5 minutes later I heard him say, "I stepped on him, because I do not like snails."

Plagiarized!!?

Yes, an article I wrote (actually 7 of them) were copied by TechXpress!

To make things more interesting, it was out on the newswire.
OLD URL: www.prweb.com/releases/2009/02/prweb2186994.htm

So I took advantage of of the situation and wrote a press release on my own company site
I was recently contacted by the owner who took down my articles and asked that I remove my Press release.

Movie Night

So about every two months Travis and I try to put together a MANly movie night. Previous movies have included:
Gladiator, Alien vs. Predeator, Alien, Aliens, Iron Man, The Hulk, etc - the last movie we upgraded our office for Blue Ray as well.

Now my wie play in the orchestra so about once per month she will come early with the boyz and we hang out in the office and watch a movie together. Tinight we watched Back to the Future.

What an adventure! It has everything boyz love - cool machines, a bully that gets beaten up, an electric guitar, lightening, guns, a pretty girl, and of course skateboarding behind cars!

Throughout the whole movie Jacob was asking about what was hapening in the movie - he aso would do reality checks of whether or not time travel is possible.

We have watched all kinds of good boy movies together (especially my oldest): star wars (the original 3 of course), all three Lord of the Rings (Legolas was his favorite), ET, and Karate Kid.

I am still not sure how I am going to top this last movie night the next time my wife is in orchestra!

Tuesday, February 03, 2009

  1. Making Mo-hawks during bathtime
  2. being shot at from pretend guns across the kitchen
  3. Saving my son who is 20 feet up in the air, stuck in a tree
  4. Chasing naked boyz around the house
  5. the tickle monster
  6. Story time
  7. Wrestling in the living room
  8. Scaring my boyz when they walk around the corner
  9. Building a treehouse

These are some of my best memories with my boys. I love being a father.

Thursday, January 22, 2009

"Daddy, can I use your staple gun?" - that is how my day started today and I love every minute of it!

How many dads get this question from their five year old?

Whenever I work around the house, Jacob is there to help. I know that I work at half speed when he is around because of all the questions I have to answer, and the curiousity he has that tends to get him in trouble - but it is also fun.

My favorite thing is when I ask, "Jacob, can you get me a screwdriver?"
and he says, "Do you want a philips or a flathead?"
I am so blessed!

I am the richest man in the world

I am down in Santa Maria enjoying my boyz. Jacob was just watching a cowboy movie and wanted to go to the park to rise te horses. His biggest desire: to be a cowboy.

Sexy Woman

The last week my wife has taken to several home improvement tasks:
Strippping two doors using potent paint remover chemials and a belt sander

Stripping paint for Nathan's soon-to-be new bed.

I find it very attractive when I see her use my air compressor, belt sander and chemical gloves for removing paint. A few weeks before that she was right along side me shoveling dirt back into the trench in our backyard tht I dug for a new sprinkler system.

So using tools is sexy - but when we work together I feel so connected.
